chick on its back

Try and help the chick. It could be Encephalomalacia (Crazy Chick Disease). Feeds that are stored too long can be deficient in vitamin E. Chicks can be plagued with this usually between 2 weeks to 1 month of age. Get to the feed store and get some Poultry Nutri-Drench and give one drop in the mouth twice a day. Keep the bird warm (i.e. about 90-85 degrees F if it is are more than 2 weeks old but less than 3). Put some Save-A-Chick in the water a few days a week. Encourage the chick to eat and drink. Make sure the starter/grower feed is not old and of good quality.

Is your brooder area clean?
