It's hard to tell about the size of theadorable yellow chick, but he reminds me of a baby quail. I used to raise them and he looks alot like one. They are all so cute.

Hi Dusty -
Your little yellow guy/girl looks just like my week-and-a-half old Delawares. Maybe that's what you've got?

I have some with lots of black on their wings and some with hardly any. I'm wondering if the dark wings will be boys and the light wings will be girls? I ordered straight run, so this will be interesting.

Good luck with your new little flock!

It’s not a quail. I am posting a pic of him sitting in my hand. Maybe that will give you a better idea of the size? The pic was taken last week, the pics I posted today were taken today. He is smaller than the ones we got this weekend but they are a bit older. I have no clue what kind he/she is but they are all just too cute! I'm really glad I found this forum! You all are very nice!!

first off let me say...welcome!!

Whatever it is ...it is adorable. Please keep posting pics of it and keep us updated on their progress.

OK. I finally got some photos taken and uploaded to this Photobucket thingy. I'll have to have my daughter help me get them in here.

Anyway, I ordered 25 straight run Delawares and now they're two weeks old. They look a lot like your orphan, don't you think? They officially outgrew my stock tank brooder and I had to make another brooder the same size. I've divided up the chicks by how dark they are. Not sure if that has any bearing whatsoever on their gender, but we'll see!

How is your little flock doing?

Blessings,

I am not saying i think it is a turkey, but i found this on craigslist......the people want someone to take it because all their turkeys were eaten by predators so its all alone. I thought it looked similar and people had mentioned turkey so here it is. wish it was a little better.

Cindy your right!! My chick looks like your dark feathered ones. Thanks so much for posting the pics they sure are cute! I wonder if your feather color idea is right. If so then mine should be a he. I guess time will tell us both.
The chicks are all doing well. So far as I can tell.. all eating, all drinking. I set the heat in my studio at 80. Do you think that is warm enough?
That poor baby turkey, I hope he finds a home.
