A huge blue maran chick just hatched after hours and hours since it zipped. It's moving and vocal but it has something coming from it's vent. (I think??) Did it not absorb the yolk? Is there something I can do? Is it going to die?

What color is it?
Is it bleeding?
Can you post a picture?

leave it alone-let it rest-you are seeing the cord coming from its stomach from the egg-it will dry off and fall off. let it peep and be vocal-its fine as long as its not like a golf ball size amount of yolk unabsorbed you'll be fine and so will the chick:-)

There is blood, I"m not sure I would consider it "bleeding" it's bigger then it was at first. The chick is acting normal.

Hmm, keep her away from all the other chicks, and if it is bleeding I was told to put flour on it.
Worked for my first hatched one.
ut yeah just keep is away from all the others and see if it shrivels up and falls off.

Your temps and humidity have been alittle off. Leave the chick in the bator til the sac has dried or absorbed more. If the other chicks start to pick at it take them out after they have dried off so this chick can rest and this sac has dried.
