I'm almost through my first egg incubation! I've got 8 eggs in my Brinsea 20 Eco incubator. Today is day 18 of incubation. I've been really good about keeping the temp/humidity where it should be. I took them out briefly last night to candle them for the last time. everything looked good, but then I woke up this morning to one with a tiny hole in the blunt end and some liquid that looked like it had oozed out overnight and congealed to seal the hole. Thinking it was bad, I took it out of the incubator for a few minutes. When I thought about it more, I decided maybe it was alive and trying to hatch, so I put it back in.

There is no foul odor - the egg isn't rotten. Could it be pipping this early? I read somewhere online that they can accidentally punch holes in their shell with their beak or toenails - maybe that's what happened? Should I leave it in the 'bater, or take it out? I'm nervous that it was alive and perhaps I doomed it when I took it out this morning. When I put it back in I took the bater off the turning cradle, took out the dividers, and put some water in to increase the humidity.

Thanks for any advise anyone can give!
