I am excited to join this group of knowledgeable chicken producers. Never raising them before I will be looking for your expertise and 1st things first - best ways to start raising chickens, where to place the coop, how many to start with, etc. I live in Iowa and the winters get cold and the summers get hot. Looking for advice - and thanking everyone in advance for it.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you joined our happy flock. This is the best place to be to learn and share. My very important tip: Read & research, start with maybe 6 - 8 chicks. Have brooder set up before you bring them home and get a good air filter if brooding indoors. Don't buy a cheap ready made coop online and find out all you can about local predators that might covet your little fluff balls so you know how to keep them from harm. Good luck and enjoy your new chicken adventure. :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy
