Chick Starter? Flock Raiser? Layer Pellets?

A little farther south AllCoop'dUp, I'm in Oakland, CA. I didn't even know there was an Oakland, OR!

Winters, CA (Fairfield/Vacaville area-ish) here. We're in Hayward quite a bit, though! So....howdy semi-neighbor!! Are you in the Oakland Hills?

Hi guys,

My broodies hatched four chicks between July 22 and July 25th, making them about 9.5 weeks old. The mamas are back in the hen house with the rest of the flock. I'd like to move the youngsters out, but I really don't have enough room in the coop to keep their feed separate but accessible to them (and not the older flock).

Can I put the chicks on layer pellets this young? It would make it possible for me to move them to the coop (and out of their 36 sqft pen), plus they're almost out of starter/grower and I'd hate to have to buy another 50 lb bag for 4 chicks to eat if they can have layer pellets now.

Thanks!
