I have 8 chicks that are about 7 weeks old. How long do they stay on the chick starter and what kind of feed do they need next. Thanks

I'd just finnish off what ever starter you have left and then switch them to grower. Then once they are laying go to layer ration.

On the back of the feed bag, it almost always gives you a chart, with options.
Chicks can eat anything but layer. Starter, Grower, Raiser, Finisher, etc. The only thing you probably shouldn't feed them is the layer, because the calcium is so high.

At 18 weeks, normally, you can switch them to layer.

I've just always used Purina products because they're cheap and because they are what are sold at the store closest to me, haha, no great reason other than that. However, I've have had great luck with it. I use the red bag "start & grow" for babies, then when they get older switch to the green bag "flock raiser" and start giving a little bit of the brown bag "scratch grain", then after that go to the blue bag "layena". If you goto the purina website you can sign up for coupons and get it even cheaper.
