Our broody has 4 chicks, yesterday one was taken by a cat. We saw feathers and searched everywhere but couldn’t find it anywhere. So today a man walking his dog found the chick, it survived and got through the night in a low bush on its own! (4 week old bantam serama cross).
Im still in shock! There is one puncture wound just under the wing and some feather loss on its back. The vet said to clean it with salt water and leave it with the broody for tonight, they said antibiotics may do more harm than good especially with its gut.
The chick is hanging it’s wing though, is there any way to fix that? I’ve attached a couple of pics. It’s eating and drinking fine, walking about and seems happy except for it’s poor wing. Judging on the trail a cat got it and jumped over a big wall, chick escaped and hid for 24 hours until the man found it.
