I hatched chicks with my students this year and we had one exactly how you describe your little gimpy guy. I don't know if this helped, but I held her a lot and would lift her just above the ground so her legs we dangling with feet touching the floor, where she would trying to move them (like walking in the air
). Just over a day later, she was hobbling around and not more than 3 days later, she was running around so well with the others that you wouldn't have ever known that she spent her first 18 hours of life stranded with her legs sticking out uselessly in front of her. So don't fret. It seems these things often have a way of working themselves out
