Im not sure how to start a thread in the emergency section but my second chick just hatched ten minutes ago and one of its toes is slightly curled can anything be done?

Welcome to BYC!!

Go to the emergency area, on the top left there is a blue bottom that says start a new thread. Click is and ask about your chick. Sometimes toes will heal themselves. Hope she heals!!:)

You might want to wait a day to see if it will straighten out a bit as the chick did just hatch and sometime this could happen and will happen but again you can take a slice of buck tape and lay it flat on a table then place the foot on the tape the way you would like and give it a day or so before removing the tape as it needs to be removed and replaced every day anyway as the chicks grow so fast ...

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Sometimes toes straighten themselves out over time. If it is really bad, you can tape up the toe to make it straight and leave the chick in the bandages for a few weeks. This usually straightens them out. If you have any poultry vitamins, you might add some to their water. Rooster Booster is a great poultry vitamin to add.

I hope the little guy is going to be ok.

Baby chicks usually respond pretty fast to having their toes held straight - some people make a shoe , light cardboard under the foot and a bandaid on time holding the toe in place ( you can cut the bandaid to fit.
