Chick toys?

I gave them a tennis ball yesterday and they pecked at the little fuzzies on it but left it alone for the most part. Maybe they're too small for it now or maybe i do need a wiffle/pingpong ball or two. Phooey.

For our Pot Belly Pigs I take different sized bottles with caps (milk jugs, pop bottles, water bottle, etc. etc.) pour in a little food in it,-sometimes I will dump a few rolls of smarty candys in there along with the food for that extra little treat. cut a few holes for the food to fall out. Then throw into the pig pen. They LOVE playing with that. They will roll it for hours on end looking for the food that falls out. And if they find a 'smarty candy' that fell out...They scream it to the world... They are litterally in 'hog heaven' when they find that...
Well one day I notice one of my chickens following the pigs around. They were there catching up any and all food the pigs might of missed. So I did the same thing for the chickens....Took a few 'bug juice' bottles (kids juice bottles) because they are smaller and thought were easier for the birds to mess with...Anyway...Took those bottles and put a little food in them, cut some holes and wouldn't you know it...The chickens went crazy for them. Each and everyone took to the bottles and started looking for treats...I made a few bigger ones for the ducks and geese...The geese will actually pick the bottles up with there beaks flapping wings and honking...Which gets the other geese interested and then it's like a 3 ring circus with all the geese honking, flapping wings, and running around...

Wow,, I'm not the only ones with toys!!! I thought I might have gone a little 'off' there for a while!! My girls have painted cinder blocks (concrete blocks) to jump up high on and look around. They also have a old (tin Horn) extra large drain pipe to run though and run on. They also have old grids or shelves that went into walk in freezers to run up and down. They make up their own games mostly "top of the mountian" and "run and fly" as they launch themselves off the top of the drain pipe. My girls also have three places just for dusting. They are covered so they don't get to wet under them. I just mix dirt with sand you can get at any home improvement store, that goes into kids play box. They also have a large tree stump turned on its side with the roots sticking out. They love this too!!!

I have some of those rings for babies and I have some plastic cat balls (solid outside (except a hole in each end)with bumps). They love to flip the rings around and for the balls I hung two on a short piece of string and the other one they roll around.

I tried the grass clod, the ping pong ball, had DH make them a little 'room' with 2 doors, and put in a branch. The grass clod is a hit - at first they craned their necks at it like an alien had landed, but now it's scattered everywhere and they are actually trying to take dust baths in the dirt! I haven't seen them do much with the ball, but it moves around so they must do something with it. They like their little room too - they all settled down there, so maybe they think it's a nest. And they've all hopped on the perch. Thanks for all the ideas - they're only 4 days old so the cabbage head is out there a ways.
