Not sure how long it's been since this chick made it's first pip but it isn't chirping, it's pip isn't too big and it doesn't seem to be trying to make a zip. I'm not sure when it started to hatch but how long do till I need to help if nothing changes? It's just breathing out of it's egg.

Chicks can rest for a while after opening it, but a healthy chick should get out in a few hours. You can try peeping to it to encourage it. If this doesn't help, pick away from of the shell in a ring, leaving the membrane. This will make it easier for the chick to push out.

I hope this helps. Best of luck!

It can take awhile for chicks to come out. Once they pip, they finish absorbing their blood and yolk before they zip and hatch. I've had perfectly healthy chicks take over 24 hours between pip and zip. If it seems to be weakening, you can try to start zipping for it, but you need to stop at the first sign of blood. Blood means it's not ready yet and it hasn't finished absorbing everything. Helping prematurely can kill it.

Thanks for the advice, i'm just a bit scared for it. This is my first time incubating chicks (I used to have a broody girl) so I can't help but panic xD

I peeled a tiny bit back and there was a little bit of blood so I'm leaving it alone. It's a bit more vocal though so hopefully it will be okay.

I have had to help quail chicks out of eggs. My success rate was low. Let him be, if he hatches then he will probably survive. If he can't hatch by himself he is probably too weak to survive at all. This is how nature is unfortunately. Please keep us posted on the little guy's hatching. Hope I can help!

Agreed.

Just thought I would add that some chicks are strong enough, the shell is simply too thick for them to get through.
