This copper maran chick hatched 2 days ago and hasnt been able to stand or walk. The back of its neck is sizably large, and its a thick lump. Not sure what to do. It seems lively, peeping and trying to walk around.

Can the chick move it’s neck the other way? It might have wry neck (torticolis) which can be a sign of a vitamin E or B1 thiamine deficiency. Does her neck feel firm or puffy like air under the skin? I would get some Poultry NutriDrench or Poultry Cell vitamin tonic, and five her a couple of drops orally every day. You can also buy vitamin E softgels and squeeze a little into her beak for a higher dosage. Can she get some fluids into her beak to swallow? Is she able to stand or walk?

Shes completely unable to stand, and really just drags around in the brooder. i didnt know wry neck for 1-2 day old chicks was possible. The growth on her neck is hard and stiff. She doesnt seem to be able to move her head at all. She seems completely healthy aside from the being unable to walk and the neck growth. Shes peeping, trying to walk, reacting well, and all that stuff.
