Hi
I responded to your other post about Marek's testing. Not sure if it is in relation to this chick but a chick under 3 weeks is extremely unlikely to get Marek's Disease and definitely not one under 2 week old as this one appears. 3 weeks is the minimum time scale between infection with the virus and onset of symptoms so if the chick was exposed to the virus when it hatched, it might show symptoms at 3 weeks but usually it is longer. The virus normally stays dormant until the chick is stressed, for instance when a broody hen casts off her chicks or brooder reared chicks are moved to an outdoor coop or integration into a flock of older birds or surge of hormones at point of lay etc.
Basically, I'm just trying to reassure you that this chick doesn't have Marek's if that is what you are worried about. Apologies if I have put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5!
