Chick will not shut up!!!

It's still haning in there, but it is obviously getting weaker. It is sleeping quite a bit today. I'm thinking it won't make it. I have tried giving it some food; egg yolk, feed mash; it will eat some, but not hardly anything. It gets tired out too quickly. Hopefully it will make it, but it doesn't look good.

sorry shelly sounds just like mine did. I was relieved that it passed on its own, I have had to cull 3 new borns now and the last one really scared me, I have to focus on not thinking about it in order to not get upset. wont get into specifics cause it is too upsetting crud too late

This one is definitely a little fighter. I checked it a little while ago, and it was just laying there sleeping. Well, it woke up with a bear in its belly apparently! I got the egg yolk and gave it some on my cuticle thingy again, and it acted like it was starving to death! I couldn't find a syringe, so I got a small spoon and just put some in the end of the spoon. It was eating, though I think it would like more. I try to not keep it too warm when I am feeding it, so it will peep and open its mouth. So I think it was getting more interested in being cold than being hungry. Still not pecking though. It's almost 'rooting' like baby mammals do when looking to nurse? Very odd, I've never had one do this!

I have had some lately that hatched with curled toes, I think my thermo has messed up since I calibrated it. Anyway, the others that were curled toed only lived about a day. This one is at least 4 days old. What a little trooper! I hope it learns what that thing on the end of its face is for soon! Hand feeding chicks is not very easy!! It had yolk running down its chin!

my chickies will nuzzle under my hand to get warm...they use their little heads to work their way under...you see them do it to each other to get underneath if they are chilly. I have my lamp adjusted now so that they don't have to do that. And they still can find a spot if they get too warm.....

Well, I guess the chick wasn't as much of a trouper as I thought. I woke up this morning to my 4 y/o saying "wake up baby chickie!!!", it had died sometime during the night...
