Chick with abscess on leg?

When I was checking my 5 week olds chicks today I noticed that one of the chicks was standing weird, limping, and had very runny poop.
It’s leg is swollen to about four times the size of its other leg but only on the inside half of the leg from the hip to just above the hock, there is one spot on the swelling that is bigger and I think it might be an abscess.
The chick is still eating and drinking.

Any thoughts on diagnosis and treatment?

Have you had this chick all of it’s life? Could there have been a leg band on the leg that became stuck or too small? Can you post any pictures? Was the chick with chickens it’s age?

yes I hatched this chick and it’s never had a leg band on.
Always been with other chicks it’s age.
I can see if I can get a pic in the morning.

I decide to try and drain the abscess but when I cut the outer layer of skin it revealed that the bulge is actually the chicks intestines!!
Any idea why it’s intestines would end up there?

how do you know that is intestines?

Difficult to tell from the pic but it looks like leg muscle.

Can you post some pics of the chick standing.

What are your plans for dealing with that large wound now?
