Chick with bad aim?

So I've started to give my chicks some dried mealworm treats occasionally (they go crazy for them) and I've noticed one of the chicks has a problem pecking at the mealworms. At first I thought it was because she was the smallest and the bigger girls push her out of the way, but when I was able to isolate her I realized it wasn't just a one-off thing. She's not blind, because she can follow the treat and my hand when I move it around, but when she goes to peck at it, she misses? She's either off to one side or stops before she actually hits it. She doesn't have a problem with food or water since she doesn't really have to aim to get either of them, but I'm just wondering if she might have some kind of vision problem? After a while of trying to peck at the mealworm she seemed to get frustrated because I heard a few louder than usual peeps. I don't think she has wry neck either, her neck is totally fine. It's just a little peculiarity about her.

She's most probably blind in one eye only. This affects "aim" while permitting normal functioning in everything else. it's not a big problem for the chick, except for being able to compete in a mob situation over snatching up treats. She will not be able to zero in on something on the ground and get it into her beak before another chicken snatches it up. You may need to offer her a treat when she's alone if you wish her to get any.

I had a chick that did this! She could eat from a pile of food but would always peck to the side of any individual item offered to her. (We named her Magoo!).
She eventually grew out of it. I think her beak was just a little long for her face, which affected her ability to focus. Once she grew into her beak, she was just fine. She now gobbles up anything offered with no problems at all, Yours may out grow the problem as well. Just offer her treats in little piles in the meantime!
