I have a chick and her hatch date is May 15th. She seemed fine as a youngster and now is for the most part sitting on her behind. We have removed her and brought her inside where we are feeding her and watering her because a couple of the roosters used to fill the box started to peck at her. Her feet seem to be curled up most of the time. We are giving her Poly Vi Sol without iron and tried to splint her feet but either we did it wrong but it didn't seem to help. She will eat and drink and is taking the vitamin but there doesn't seem to be improvement. She does have strength in her legs because she kicks when you try and splint her feet but just doesn't seem to stay up on them. She is a black austrolorp. Where can I go to learn to splint her feet or does anyone else have any ideas.
We now have the chick up in a sling. She is still eating and drinking well and chirps a lot. One thing that we have noticed is that her feet appear to be cold. I don't see that as a symptom anywhere and I can't decide if it is because she hasn't been using them. Her feet are flattening out a little now that she is in a sling. I haven't been able to post a picture yet because I am not technologically savvy. Hopefully my kids will help me.
