I have a 3 week old chick with apparent respiratory issues. She breathes heavily (and has for about a week) but just started sneezing. She's a silver penciled rock, ordered from MyPetChicken. I have 4 other chicks in the brooder with her, 3 easter eggers and another silver penciled rock. The other rock also breathes somewhat heavily. The two rocks have always looked as though they breathe with their whole body. Both eat and drink normally and seem just as perky as ever. I have been treating with diluted VetRx on the nares and under wings, and infused their water with oregano, garlic, honey, and ACV 24 hours ago. The 3 easter eggers show no symptoms whatsoever. This is my third time raising chicks and first ever problem bunch. I lost one rock on day 2 (failure to thrive). I use an Ecoglow style brooder pad so they come and go from heat as they please. Ambient temp is about 70 degrees F. Pine shavings bedding.
Any insights? As none of the easter eggers have symptoms I assume it's not something highly communicable. Should I take them out of pine shavings? Can I dilute colliodal silver and add it to their water? I really don't want to lose another chick.
