Okay, this is from the same thread I read, but as it's on a different site I don't believe I'm allowed to link it, so I'll just quote:no toe curling. This is so odd to me.
"It could also be the achilles tendons that have slipped out of their groove. Check the back of the legs and compare them to the other chicks. The tendon should run in a straight line down the back of the leg, over the hock. If it has slipped to the side, then the chick can't physically straighten its legs.

I had one who hatched with both tendons out. We popped them back in, but they wouldn't stay in place. We contacted the owner of the above site and he sent instructions on how to make a chick chair. I probably still have the details somewhere. Send me a PM with your email address if you think you need them. Unfortunately, that chick died of frustration in the end (quite common according to DCT).
We have another one who developed it late on as a grower, thankfully in only one leg. She gets around fine, just slowly, and has been named 'Hoppy'. She gets a bit picked on, so I'm just waiting to re-home her with someone who has less chickens and no cockerels.
