One of our week old chicks has a spongy, full crop. Not hard. Like a balloon of water. Is there anything I can do to help it? She looks lethargic, and I have a feeling she won't make it if I don't do something this morning.
Could be a sour crop but I have not heard of that in such a young chick. If she is a week old and looking bad I would guess that there is nothing you can do.
Some folks do purge crops by holding the birds upside down and gently pressing on it to force the contents out, but there is a real risk of asphyxiation (choking to death) with that method.
