OK, the chick is 2 days old. Whatever swelling there was is gone. I think something is wrong with it's neck. It looks completely normal except for the fact it's head is turned to the left. It preens itself on the left side and I have yet to see it eat. I am dripping an electrolyte/vitamin mix on it's beak. It can stand and walks circles and falls over hardly at all. It crouches to walk(I think it learned it falls if not). I am thinking it is wry neck? Does anyone have any of these that live? It does not seem sickly other than that fact. I will give it another day or 2 and make a decision then

Well, I just finished giving her a half a gel tab (she did not like it at all) of vit E. It's probably totally coincidental but she is finally trying to eat! Not bad for a chick that couldn't get off her side yesterday morning

. She walks in a circle still and backwards sometimes. The only time she falls now is if she is startled. My kids are going to be so happy, since they saw her standing they said she will be ok, but I told them as long as she is not eating there is still a chance she may not make it. I starting to wonder if she was just too oversized for her egg and it gave her a crook in her neck that will take a while to work out

. I will say that I really didn't have hope for it but she has proved me wrong

Alive and eating and finally drinking on her own. I was concerned it was something she could give to the other chicks since she spends nights with them. I didn't know that there were diseases that were transferrable to the eggs. I inquired about avian encephalitis, but no one seems to have any info on it. I do take her to her own brooder during the day to eat and drink cuz in the big brooder she just seems confused, but happy. Thank you for asking. Oh, and she can kind of walk straight now, unless she gets scared then it's quite a sight
