Hello!
I'm Christy I am currently chicken less as they are not legal where I live. So I'm planning on starting with quail and trying to argue with the local zoning board as to why especially in today's day an age where our food production is threatened by being shut down by the virus. It's imparitive that people be allowed to raise their own food.
Besides birds I have also raised rabbits, although ended up selling them cause I couldn't bring myself to butcher them. 😝. Hoping to buy a small farmette in the future where there are less regulations. I'm also an avid hiker and love few things more then backpacking with my dogs. I pretty much love anything to do with the outdoors, althought I'm an oddity that I prefer the cold weather of winter over the heat of summer. I'm an artist and love to paint nature, my dream would've to be able to support myself strictly on what I grow and selling my artwork. Since that's not likely realistic I'm going back to school to be a Vet Tech, hoping to specialize in farm critters and/or wildlife rehabilitation.

I hope the fight to get the ordinance changed goes well!

My city began allowing chickens (no Roos) in 2014. Many who were interested began keeping chickens (as I did in 2015) right away.
This spring we had a HUGE run on all things chicken related here due to COVID... same with gardening materials (I feel lucky I bought everything I needed in January...whew!) Maybe your city leaders will have already felt an onslaught of comments/complaints/motions to change your ordinance. Dig deep and fight the good fight!!!!
