I have an injured turkey and 2 injured chickens. 1 is healing great and the turkey is moving and eating and drinking fine but its wounds are large. Only flesh wounds. Im putting vetricyn on them is there anything else i need to do? I have a picture but warning its graphic. Also the austrolorp doesnt have any visible wounds but it can only open 1 eye and its head is wobbly, it can kind of walk but not much. How can i help them? Culling is not an option.

General wound care is to flush wounds (except eyes) with chlorhexidine (hibiclens), sterile saline, or plain, mild soapy water. Then apply plain triple antibiotic ointment to wounds to keep them covered in it and moist. Usually no bandages or dressings are used, it's better to leave them open. For eyes I would flush with sterile saliine or eye wash and apply terramycin eye ointment a couple of times a day. If they eye is dried or crusted shut then warm, wet compresses can be used to loose that and help clean them up so it can open. If there are no visible wounds the bird may have been shaken or squeezed, and time will tell. You may have to help it eat and drink, hand feed, or tube feed until it's recovered enough to do so on it's own. Make sure it's hydrated before trying to feed it. It's likely very sore from whatever happened. Sometimes all you can do is supportive care and give them time. For the one that's wobbly, you might also give it a b complex or super B complex tablet or capsule once a day as well (human ones from any pharmacy).
