Chicken attack from weasle

Thank you. That gives me hope. I just feel she isnt ready yet and I cant lose hope. She was barely opening her eyes yesterday and today she is opening them alot more and looking around. She stands, but her head still hangs. We have her in a laundry basket in a warm dark room.

These birds of ours can certainly amaze us...with such an injury, it might take Princess a longer time, but she's young enough that she's more likely to survive.
Yes, nerves can repair themselves, but it's a long process.
She's a beauty. Thanks for the pic. Is she a Leghorn or a BSL?

Did you flush that wound /puncture mark out? did you apply something like neosporin to it? Chciken necks are deceptively strong ...
Yes do give electrolytes in the water for four days (dribble regularly along beak to ensure against dehydration)... wet her feed (perhaps you could add some cooked human oats to it (cook in water not milk) and offer some live culture yogurt.
If she is still having problems eating then add some poultry vitamins to her feed if you do not have the kind of poultry electrolytes (there are usually vitamins in that)

Thank you, I have cleaned it and am using neosporin on it. I am using the electrolytes that are for all farm animals - I just so happened to have a package.

I am actually a little shocked to see her today. She is standing and holding her head up alot more than she was when it initally happened.

I really think there is hope for her.

I am so happy to hear this, and I know it is encouraging for you to see her doing better.

It was so funny with Maggie, I had her in a cage with a blanket over most of it, and at first she would try to get away from me, and not want out, then in about a week, when I took her out, she did not want to go back in. She just wanted me to hold her and she would just sit there an purr.

Thanks, She is trying, but I'm curious if anyone can tell me about her breathing. She breaths heavy every now and again and also is breathing through her mouth...Not all the time, but say 1 out of 5 breaths is through her mouth. Is this something normal?

She tries to struggle when I hold her and she hasnt made a peep since the attack.
