I went and got a barrier spray especially for ants and 130+ insects and sprayed all along the inside and outside as soon as they touch it they drop dead Which I like mine were not fire ants tho they are this TINY little red ant with a black butt that my grandfather called pi$$ ants, beings they have a knack to pi$$ you off but my lil Banty chicks didn't make it and that broke my heart and enraged me

It may be too late for this, but we use plain white vinegar on ant-bite stings to take the sting out. Works best if you do it right away. It neutralizes the alkaline poison, so there is much less swelling, and reaction. I have used it for myself, and it really works. I probably woudn't do it around her eyes though.

Wow, I've never had a bird killed by fire ants. Some of my ameraucanas and easter eggers stand on the hills and demolish them while eating them. Have given childrens benadryl to birds with some success, for yellow jacket attacks. Good luck.

I get a lot of fire ants here. I have been lucky not to have any in my run or coop. Whenever I see them starting to build a mound outside my run, I cover it with grits (I make sure my girls can't reach it). They eat the grits, and take it underground to the rest. The grits will swell in their bellies and bust killing them instantly. any survivors, will move on and join another colony elsewhere.

Grits are cheap and effective. I do not like spraying chemicals when I don't need to.
