Chicken Attacked by Fisher Cat: Survived

Hopefully it moves on after it figures out it not worth it.

Not sure where you live, or even if it a option, but dispatching the fisher might be the easiest method of getting rid of the problem. If you're in a area where it's not safe or legal to shoot it, maybe a licensed nuisance trapper could help out. A hot wire could help, but if there are limbs over the top of the coop and run it be difficult. They are incredible climbers so make sure the top of the run is covered and secure too.

i live in new hampshire and it is legal to shoot/kill the fisher. The only problem is that I live in a residential area with kids around... and I dont happen to own a gun at all. Do you think that using a trap would be safe? I have a large cage that I use to catch squirrels.

Ok, shooting it is out do to the area you live in. So either trapping or making sure you're coop and run is Fisher proof are your options.

Not sure if a fisher would be fooled by a live trap. They are smart. Someone with more trapping experience will hopefully chime in. You would definitely need a large trap. I've seen some impressive size Fishers.

You mentioned it was in a tree eyeing up it's next meal. Is that tree over the coop/run? If so those limbs are like a highway for the Fisher. Make sure the top is secured very well.

The tree's branches are somewhat over the coop, but it was only a few feet up the tree when i saw it. It hasnt come back in the past 2 hours so maybe it moved on/went to sleep.

The run is attached to the coop, so it squeezed its way through the wire
What kind of wire? Posting some pics might help us help you in how to reinforce.

You can hope :fl but I'm betting it's not far away and will likely foray again.

Even if you could trap it, you'd still need to kill it somehow.
Not sure if fishers are prized for their fur, but maybe looking for a trapper nearby would be worth the effort.
Meanwhile, making your run impenetrable is your best bet.
