Chicken Attacked! Help!

Don’t use peroxide anymore, since it can damage tissue. 2% Chlorhexidene, weak betadine, saline, or a wound spray, such as Vetericyn or Theracyn with hydrogel are all good to use on the wound. Apply plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment twice a day to the wound. She she heal fine eventually. I would separate her in a dog crate with food and water but leave her inside the coop with her flock.
Great call on leaving her with the flock. I noticed that she seemed much more relaxed when I moved her outside today with the other girls. I put her in a small dog crate with food and water and some chips at the bottom and she seems content to be with the other members. I changed her dressing today and cleaned the wound by using chlorhexidine and water mixture on a sterile Gaul pad and patted the area. I then packed it filled with neosporin and put some ointment on the Gauls and stuck it to her with some bandage wrap. I let her walk around in the run for a few minutes so she had some sense of normalcy. Thank you guys for all of your help! She has a vet appt tomorrow at 5:30 and I hope they prescribe her some antibiotics

Looks like a bandage close up please do not bandage just gob of nep sporin plain no asprin can be bought at dollar stores here

I can hold infection and create one do you have a wire dog style crate to put her in the coop

Probably thinking of letting the area “breathe” bandages are good for keeping it clean. Stick with the bandages until you see the vet. It looks good. You did a great job on it, that’s an akward spot to bandage
Thank you!!! I appreciate it. I feel like after I see the vet and get antibiotics that I can let the area breathe more I just don’t want it to get infected between now and then. Especially with muddy and wet conditions due to snow.

Most people do leave wounds open to air with Neosporin ointment on them, and we use clean towels or puppy pads as bedding for dog crates. I am looking forward to hearing what the vet had to say.
I will keep you all posted! Good idea on the puppy pads I didn’t think of that
