I had a hen attacked. Not sure by what but she had a chunk taken out of her head I could see a little meat and some skin removed from under her wing. This isn’t the first time I’ve dealt with this. She is quarantined in my shed im giving nutridrench vitamin B12 and vitamin K I’m giving to her orally and I’m spraying her with antimicrobial on the areas. Shes eating and drinking but not pooping. I’m worried about the weather I have a heat plate for over night. It’s 29 tonight and that’s the lowest for the week. I’m wondering how long I should wait to see if she heals or not and if I should cull. I’m big on trying to do everything I can before culling. Like I said I’ve healed a few chickens before doing this but can’t really remember how long the healing process takes. Open to any other helpful options and a timeline. Don’t want her to suffer but don’t want to give up too early.

Chickens can survive some pretty nasty wounds, so she could be fine! Could you get some pictures?
Its a very good sign she's eating and drinking.
Keep giving those vitamins to her, it'll help with any shock. Give her her chicken feed and plain water. Keep her in a quiet area.
She should be fine in that temp, but if possible, I personally would bring her inside.
Definitely give her a chance, everything sounds good so far.

TReat her for shock.Keep her warm and offer her sugar water.
Clean the wounds with saline and apply antibiotic ointment generously (the type with no pain reliever) Try to get her to eat .Will she eat scrambled eggs? (don't use a Teflon pan) Fresh water and monitor
