This is based off a previous observation I mentioned in a previous thread I started but I was wanting to bring this question to the forefront.
Does anyone else’s chickens act scared of the wind as far as not wanting to get out Into the run where the sole source of food is but stay inside the coop? Or is it just normal behavior for pullets that are about 8 weeks old?
They’ll come out as long as I’m out there standing next to the enclosed run but as soon as the wind blows they make a mad dash back inside the coop? Sometimes due to an acorn hitting the top of the tin roof and sometimes bcs it’s just a windy gust.
The only one who doesn’t really seemed to be bothered is my smaller Leghorn.
The others run and hide in the coop.
As I said, their only food source is out in the run so I don’t want them to starve from being a bunch of scaredy cats!
This is only their third week outside so I’m sure they’re still getting used to everything.
Should I provide food in the coop today since they are being too scared come out or just leave them be to figure it out on their own?
