Chicken being lazy, slow moving, extra docile

just wanted to make a quick update and say that the corrid treatment is going great and they are much better, I honestly didnt think a few of them were going to make it but they bounced back, that corrid is a lifesaver... anyways, thank you for the advice.

Has anyone ever tried using albon to cure coci in hens.My leghorn hen just passed away. I found her this morning. She was acting lethargic and did some fluid with eye droper and had electrolyte water but didnt realize it was coci untill later on today. My avian vet isnt in today. But I gave my other leghorn hen 0.5 ml dosage of albon. I have alot of albon because I foster cats and im always treating for worms and parsasites. I would love some advice on this. Ive been paranoid all day that i could lose my other leg horn.

Albon is sulfadimethoxine, and is used in treating coccidiosis and some respiratory and intestinal diseases. It treats the 2 worst strains of coccidia, but Corid (amprollium) is used more frequently since it will treat the 9 or more strains of coccidia that affect chickens. Sulfa antibiotics can be hard on the kidneys and hearing if they aren't given exactly as presrcibed. Sorry for your loss.

I noticed one of my Golden Comet hens is off by herself, seems sleepy. She's the most friendly of all our birds but would still try and run away when we reach for her. Now she just sits there, making no attempt to run off. I threw some bread out and she walked over with the other birds but she didn't eat. I haven't been able to see her droppings to see how it looks. It's a pretty cold day but the others are acting like they always do...not sure what to do. Something isn't right with her...

Thanks for the link...I went out and put water near her so she didn't have to go to the community water and she did drink some. But when i walked away all the other birds swarmed the "new water". When she stopped drinking i moved it out for the others to drink and she actually went out and drank with them. Her eyes are clear, no runny nose or anything. Her comb looks droopy to me. She didn't eat the scratch i put near her, but i read that water is more important than food.

Water and heat are the two most important things. Almost all sick birds wil be dehydrated and hypothermic. Once they are warm and hydrated it's much easier to figure out what's wrong with them.
