Chicken block swap due June 15th

Kassaundra~WOOT WOOT!!!
I have a question for you that appliques. Have any of you used heat n bond, and if so, what is your experience with it? Did you stitch around it or no? I think I'm going to have to do applique as I can't seem to find a pieced pattern that I like except the ones you all have done!! So any suggestions or techniques that are easy?

Did you see this one, I thought about it, but didn't do it.

Also you might want to think about even if it is a block already done your colors and fabric choices will make it different.

IT works well. I'm doing all my applique by machine. I've never had such a nice machine before and the blanket stitch has turned out really nice for these blocks.

I can't see the pattern of it, but maybe I can come up with something similar. Thanks Kassaundra!

The background center is a rectangle w/ the corners sewn to them in different sizes similar to the snowball, or flying geese. The body is the same a large rectangle w/ two corners (the bottom ones) sewn two them. The comb and beak are the same rectangles w/ one corner sewn, the head and tail are just two rectangles sewn together. (the easy way is not cutting triangles but squares placing them on the edges sewing at center diagonally across the square pressing it then trimming the two back triangle edges leaving the top one.)

I do not know how to do the triangles in the tail and head, but suspect a square that is folded on one side and seamed then refolded and pressed so the seam is to the back and it forms a triangle, they are made then just placed in the straight seam of the two rectangles.

Then it's just adding borders of the background to get the right size.

Hope that makes sense.

I have a 2 different sewing machines and 1 serger.1 of the sewing machines and the serger is new. The other sewing machine is the one I have had for many years and love and they both have several different types of stitches, but not a BLANKET STITCH!! I love the look of that stitch on applique. I will probably use a zigzag if I do the applique.
