Thanks for sharing your experience with us! I've had a blast seeing "the upbringing" from anothers point of view.

I've taken so may pix since my chicks got here on the 14th of May that it isn't funny. Gotta love a good digital camera. We have an Olympus E-500 and its already paid me back what it originally cost, in great pix. Couldn't afford to document like I like to with a film camera!

I don't remeber if you ever said, where did you get the chicks?
Looks like you have them trained to put their books away when they are done reading, whats your technique, ide like to try it on my kids

I bought them from my local feedstore. I think they were 1$ each. They are barred rocks and speckled sussex. I'm sure one is a Rooster. She has thick legs a big red comb and makes funny crowing noises in the morning. I hope she is not a he. I can't have roosters in my neighborhood and I've become attached to my little Cinnamon.

maybe shes just going through a phase, experimenting with things and will grow out of it

After 6 weeks of living the bathroom of my apartment, we have moved into our new house and the chicks have had their first day in the outdoors. We have not built a coop yet so we through together what we had around the house so they could have a little pen to play in during the day. They had such a great time picking and scractching at the grass. Next step is to build there chicken tractor. Here is a bunch of pics from their first day in the sun.

At the hatchery where I bought my chicks they told me to keep them inside for 8 weeks but man did they grow fast and honestly, they were ready to go out to the coop way before that. Actually, they ended up flying all around my garage for weeks pooping on everything until I couldn't take it any more!

The girls move into temporary quaters.

They also had thier first taste of scratch today. They seemed to enjoy it.
