I have two girls that are nearly three, and a pack of youngsters that I got this spring. The big girls have free ranged before, but yesterday I let everyone out for a couple hours. The big girls, of course, took off immediately to find their favorite spots; the little kids kind of huddled near the roo and moved around as a unit.

I'm in the house, watching the flock of newbies figuring out the grazing thing when the two big girls came racing over from the neighbors yard and plowed straight into the pile of poultry. Squawking! Chicken bodies flying everywhere! The rooster running in circles trying to figure out who to defend! And the big girls ran off laughing......

At least it loosened up the kids a bit. They spread out a little after that.
