Hi my new chicken appears to be acting strange and breathing very funny with its mouth open and tipping its head backwards. Does anyone have any ideas of what might be wrong. I have attached photos

Yep it’s hot, mine do that some. Give them some frozen treats or an shallow ice bath. It will help I also put ice or bottles of frozen water into their waterer

I will try that thank you. This chicken and another do have a slight cough as I got them from a rescue centre at the weekend so not sure if they have picked something up

Keep a close eye and watch it doesn’t worsen. If it gets lethargic and eyes start closing it could be the start of a respiratory issue.

I had one that started the same and it took two days and she was limp and had a real rattle in her breath. Fine now just needed antibiotics. Fingers crossed for you :fl

Can you take a short video and upload it to Youtube?

What do you feed this bird on a daily basis?

I’ve bought some herbal liquid to try and help and then will get a vets appointment it if doesn’t clear up. She is still eating and drinking so hoping it will get better

I don’t know much since it’s my first flock, but I was reading about worms the other day, because I’m weird, and one person said if there’s worm overload, a chicken may stretch out it’s neck and pant and maybe choke. Anyone hear or read or see this? Like I said, I read too much.
