Its actually more grey than black coming in. The pictures just made it look black. He has always had a blue cast under his buff color. But the blue is feathering in more and more every day.I wonder if its a white paint or white splash?
So i *think* this is a buff with blue splash.. now what that is officially called, I'm not sure. But it is gorgeous!!Its actually more grey than black coming in. The pictures just made it look black. Ok if mine looked like this, id say hen, because that would be a big crest for a hatchery non-bearded... but being show quality, i think the crest would be a lot poofier on a female. I think you might have some streamers starting (looks like there are some thicker crest feathers coming in). but, show quality take longer to distinguish.. so i think all of yours are still in the running for roo/hen. I wouldn't trade or rehome any at this point.. i bet you have a mix of roo/hens. But my initial thought is slow showing roo.Anyone have a good guess? 12-13 week old Silkie from SQ lines. Pullet or Roo?
I know it's so confusing! A few of my black ones don't have the big poof but there's no development of the comb either. Time will tell! Youre welcome!! I was going so crazy figuring out my silkies, and dreading the thought of rehoming (i cant keep roosters) so dna testing was a mental health saver for meI know it's so confusing! It looks like a little rooster, but I'm not 100% sure, I know mine was easy, even my sizzler I can tell by the way he acts!I know it's so confusing! A few of my black ones don't have the big poof but there's no development of the comb either. Time will tell! Thank you for your responses
