Chicken Breed Focus - Wyandotte

I LOVE Wynadottes; cuddly & fluffy, sweet & friendly, don't find them very noisy but think it's a individual trait. The bigger of the chicks think it's a parrot, always jumping up on my arm to perch. Hoping they're pullets

Love the gray color of your chicks. What color will they be as adults (sorry if that's a silly question)?

SLW's were my first chickens ever. I had three of them, but one died during a very hot spell in the summer. I now have A total of 12 chickens but my 2SLW's are still my favorites. I didn't have any trouble integrating the other chickens in with them, they were just fine. They always laid large eggs and now at over two years old there eggs are huge. They lay about five per week each. I think that's pretty darn good for some chicks from the local feed store. I definitely recommend this breed, and they're beautiful feathering doesn't hurt anything either.

I was told they were Blue Laced Wynadottes, the bigger ones darker than the smaller. There was another even smaller, survived 4 days before it died. Just hoping they turn out to be pullets

Thanks! Here's to hoping they are all pullets!

Hi there! I have a new flock as of last month or two. They re all wyandottes, except for my brooder. I have a Blue lasted red Rooster, who is huge. His ladies are two gold laced, one blue, one black, and two whites. I have a buff orpington who is setting on 14 eggs from those hens and should hatch in a week or so.

Hello from NE Kansas and welcome. Looks like your flock has some wonderful colored breeds represented!

Here are some pictures of my ladies and their rooster.

I picked the Wyandottes because of their cold hardiness and winter laying primarily, but I really like their colors.

Mine are not as friend;y as some others seem to be. They would rather I not get anywhere near them. The two whites are a little more friendly, but still rather I stay back. It may just be because they re still new to me. The colorful ones are 2 years old, the rooster is a little younger, and the white ladies are 1 year old.

I am very excited to see what colors I get out of the clutch about to hatch.

:love Wow you've got a lovely flock there!

The feed store sole me this chick as a blue laced red, but someone on a FB color and genetics forum said she was a blue laced gold.
Her name is Talise. I have more pics of her as an older chick, but for some reason, I can't upload them.
