chicken bucket list

I guess if I had a chicken bucket list it would have been, to have some real Ameraucanas. Well I got some from Cackle in July and they are supposed to be the real deal, not EE. So now my goal is to keep the flock going. I ordered a cockerel but am not seeing him yet.

If you were closer I would give you a couple Cemani Roos. We purchased , 2 years ago, 8 Cemani chicks that turned into 6 Roos and 1 predator loss of a hen. They are beautiful, but we are trying to get rid of 4 of the Roos. We have a mixed flock and tried to keep the Cemani separate, but then had to weed out too many Roos for 2 hens, and after losing a hen we don’t have the facility to just keep a single hen and Roo isolated. So they are all mixed together now.🤷🏽‍♀️
We’re actually trying to grow our flock right now! I’ve been looking online and eggs are sooooo expensive! I wish I was closer😢

I pretty much have my bucket list birds

I hatched some White Chanteclers this year and couldn't be happier with my decision.
I also went down the Wyandotte rabbit hole. Big birds, cold hardy combs, personality wise im still undecided....next years goal is too add LF SL and Blue Silver laced to the flock.

My Splash cockeral (5 months) Ozzy Crowborne and Marge. I am in LOVE with the blues

Yes, but the variety of the breed will be hard to come by.

I’d like to raise a few bantam speckled sussex, but don’t know if it will ever happen.
Also, would like to raise another variety of Sussex.
I’ve been raising the speckled sussex for years and plan to always keep the Sussex breed.
How about coronation sussex? I find the blue on white stunning.

If I want more chickens again, I hope my next project with a broody , is with bantam speckled sussex too. I know a guy who has them. But last year he had a problem with the fertility of the eggs and didn’t want to sell them for that reason.

Instead I bought bantam Amrock hatchery eggs, who turned out too big to be standard bantams. They are huge compared to my Dutch bantams.

I have 8 chickens in total now. This is about the max for my setup in case I have to confine them in the coops/run the whole day(s).

That blue hen sure is pretty!

I’m working on year 2 of my BBS Marans project. I have 1 black, 2 splash and 4 blue hens and a blue roo- all allegedly BBS Copper but there is very little copper I can see and more like gold/ wheaten in the hackles, except in the black hen.

My other bucket list breed would be speckled sussex— I love those feather patterns, but admittedly I need to research the breed more.
