My bucket list is just to have my own chickens. The ones I have are my brother’s. I was just supposed to have them during the brooder phase while he built a coop. At least they’re paying rent now.

since bantam cochins are actually pekins which is technically a different breed

My original bucket list item was...have chickens. The goal was a small flock of 4-6 and I have 35 now, so I daresay that's been accomplished

Seramas, Japanese Bantams, Modern Games, and Maylays were the first few breeds that caused me to catch the chicken bug long before it was ever feasible for me to have any sort of chicken. I guess I was initially drawn for whatever reason to chickens with absurdly short and absurdly long legs. I never did end up getting any of those types since they're not cold hardy; winters are just too brutal where I live, so I've mostly been focused on big round birds and cold hardy breed mixes. Maybe one day I'll be set up in a winter-resistant enough way to branch out more.

My next chicken breed I want is the Amberlink. I saw some at tractor supply this year, but the timing wasn't right. I might also get some more of the black sex linked, since the ones I have now will be going to my sister.
