I have a wood shed next to the coop so could put her in there over night and take her out in the morning.A broody hen will sit on the nest at night so I would keep her separate at night. You can move the cage into the pen at night if you are worried about foxes. One or two nights should do the trick. Good luck!
So my chicken went to Jail for 2 days and has now been let out on good behaviour. She was out all day yesterday and went back into the coop last night but I closed the next boxes off just in case. However, when opening up this morning we had 2 eggs, but one very soft and discoloured (attached). Would this have come from my broody chicken do you think?
It is possible, but you can't be 100% sure. Offer oyster shell separate from their feed, those who need will take. Hopefully it is just a start up issue
