When I first got my chickens this summer, I knew that I'd develop weird habits with them. The baby talk was a given. But now ... I have found myself doing even stranger things. Like smelling the chicken feed. I LOVE the smell of their food! Every morning after I mix their feed in with a little water (and maybe a splash of yogurt or pumpkin puree if they need a treat) I can't help but smell it on the way out to their coop. I can't explain why it's so good, but it's like how the vines on fresh tomatoes are delicious even though you know you don't actually want to eat it.

Does anyone else have any chicken confessions they need to share with the world?

My confession would be that I love to smell and bury my nose in my hens' feathers. They smell so good (especially when they've been scratching around in fresh pine bedding) and their feathers are so soft and fluffy; I just can't resist!
