Hi all...I have my first flock of four 3-month old pullets: Roxy, Lucy, Scully and Doodle.
I never knew chickens were so silly! Here is an excerpt of my life with them last Sunday...I hope you enjoy it!

All chicks: The lady that lets us out into the yard is coming! She’s coming!! Yay! Yay!
All chicks: She opened the coop door. Maybe we should stare at her warily for a moment.
Roxy: Forget that! I’m outta here!
Other chicks: Yay! We’re outta here! Wheeeeeeeee!
(time passes)
Doodle: I think the lady is handing out oatmeal!
Other chicks: Oatmeal! Oatmeal! Let’s throw it everywhere!
(time passes)
Scully: Look how I can stand on tip-toe on the back of the patio chair and flap my wings like a maniac!
Other chicks: What? You can do that on chairs? I’m in!
(all chicks on a chair back flapping wings at the same time)
(Cat runs inside and my dog looks on grumpily at the commotion)
(time passes)
Roxy: Yikes! Watch out! There’s a 747 plane in the sky that wants to attack us!
Other chicks: Yikes! Hide under the bushes and make weird noises until it’s gone!
All chicks: Whew… 747 is gone..let’s run around and eat bugs and grass!
(time passes)
Scully and Doodle: Yikes! Watch out! There’s a tiny little hummingbird nearby that wants to attack us!
Other chicks: Yikes! Hide under the bushes and make weird noises until it’s gone!
All chicks: Whew! Hummingbird is gone. We’re safe.
(my other cat runs away because she’s had enough)
All chicks: Let’s chase that cat when she runs and try to peck at her tail! What fun!
(time passes)
Lucy: Hey, look at me take a dustbath! I’m throwing the dust into the fresh water and food that lady filled for us!
All chicks: We’re tired..let’s sunbathe and take a nap.
Whew..it was a fun chicken day.
