Chicken Coop Caught on Fire! Will the chickens be OK?

Not sure there is much more you can do.  a vet would probably give oxygen, but that is out of most of our reach.  clean fresh air is about the best you can do.

The fresh air seemed to help a lot. Tomorrow they can get a full day of fresh air, so that should help.

Hope things are going well! I just wanted to mention that I have two domed clamp lamps in my coop, one with an infrared heat bulb and one with a ceramic heat emitter. One of the lamps came apart and dropped, but luckily it happened when it wasn't turned on. I took some wire and wrapped it through the lamp base that is clipped onto a wooden rafter so that if the base would loosen again, the wire prevents it from falling. I did the same to my other lamp. It's hard to explain, but I basically secured each fixture with wire just in case. Best wishes with your chickens and their recoveries.

I work in A&E and oxygen or nebulisers are best but when my kid has an asthma attack we put him in the bathroom with the shower on 'cos the steam helps to open his breathing tubes (laymans terms).
If you have any ventolin or becotide inhalers and you don't have a child with a teddy bear spacer you could use a toilet roll tube to make a spacer. Try one puffs and let the chicken breath it in.
Smoke on the lungs is horrid, but like an ex smoker, every day your lungs get a little better. Fresh air should be fine in the absence of anything else.
Good luck xxx

P.s Be careful with the buckets of water 'cos one of my silkies drowned in a horse water bucket. They try to drink, fall in and can't swim!

Would albuterol help? We have that.
We put a shallow grain dish in there for them to drink. We too have had a few drown-they had chicken waterers avl...

Thanks! We are hoping they all make a full recovery. It is hard to describe how much smoke there actually was ^in there. We were going to put permanent long light fixtures ^in there, we only have on that works. (old coop)

Albuterol is a steroid and will increase heart rate. If the chicken is ok and getting better with fresh air, I would stick to that.

How are you, by the way? Did you get much smoke damage to your lungs?

Big hugs to you xxx

The chickens are doing really well today! They all smell like smoke, but I didn't here anything abnormal. Today is kind of warm so they are enjoying that!

Yeah, me and my brother inhaled a ton of smoke. At least it felt like it. I feel better today, and I don't have the weird taste/coating in my mouth anymore. I quit coughing too, but I didn't need any medical help. Still feels a little sore, but the chickens got the worst of it.
