Hello.
So we're trying to find a permanent place for our chicken coop, and we chose a place at the edge of our property that is full of rocks. We shoveled the rocks out of the way to have a dirt bottom for the chickens, but there's a ton of ants...
Is it safe to have the chickens live there? or will the ants become a nuisance and stress to the chickens???

Since you've removed all the rocks you've likely removed the Ant habitat. In any case I think most chickens would turn ants into appetizers.

Sprinkle some Sevin or other bug killer before building if you're really paranoid.

Thanks!!! Yeah, I think I'm more scared of the ants than the chickens.

I see you are also in Colorado! What part of Colorado?

You should be ok treating the ground with sevin dust and building there.

Those big red ants oh my! They give quite a painful pinch.
Haha! Thanks so much for responding. We're in northern Colorado, near Denver, you?
I think we'll just put the coop in the area where the least of the ants are.

I am up by Fort Collins! Small world lol!

Be sure there is shade. We are headed for the hot summer now. It can be man made shade.

Your birds will thank you.
