I raised Daisy, a Pekin duck, since she was a few days old. She is probably about 5 years old. She grew with lack of niacin and her right leg pointed inwards. She always limped. I carried her around to the swimming pool every day and sat with her about 20 minutes a day. We are bonded and she loves my messages everyday. She was a catalyst for teaching me to get closer to my inner awareness.

The other day after 15 minutes of massage we were both so relaxed. All of a sudden when I put her down, she freaked out, was screaming like she was hurt, and ran away in pain. This made her injuries worse. Today Daisy didn't like it when I moved her from my lap. My instinct told me to take her in my home, and put her in my bathtub. I fed her sardines (niacin), and a bit of chicken food. She ate a bit of sardines, and now she is quiet.
I'm thinking a sling may take the pressure off her legs. I'm a mechanical klutz and nervous.
A response is so very much appreciated.

Blessings,
Stewart

Yes a sling will help her if she’s in pain trying to get around or not walking at all anymore. @ruthhope has made them for her ducks . I’m sorry poor Daisy is suffering. I have a female pekin who is seven years old and also has a foot turned in. She came to me as a rescue and probably also had niacin in deficiency. She’s still getting around, but I am watching carefully for There may come a day soon where she needs more help.

Those are the sorts of slings/ducky wheelchairs I have for ducks that are not walking. But the duck has to want to be sat on the sling. This year my juvenile rescue with bowed tibia and foot drop did not want to be on the sling and threw himself off it when I put him on it, so I used a tote bag sling over a pole.

I cut holes in the bottom of the tote for legs and a hole up the side for the neck. A tote bag sling could be a temporary measure while making the frame for a ducky wheelchair or sling as in the videos
