Chicken coop poop tube

We have one of these rolling cat litter boxes:

... and it has a pull-out tray almost exactly like the one in the first post.

We really like the way it functions, so I imagine a similar kind of system for chickens would be awesome and work well.

I definitely think that having the boards be "slippery" and having some shavings, or similar, in the tray would make it function much better than without.

Very clever idea! I considered a chute but decided against it because adding dropping boards would add a lot more room .The shavings are also easy on their feet when they come off the roost unlike wire. I do have to clean mine though.

A raised platform with vinyl flooring under the roost makes it easy to clean and adds sq footage. This one has a ramp for baby chicks.

I can only imagine that 3 months of poop staying in that tube, uncovered, unmixed with straw or any other bedding material...it's gotta create one heck of a a stink with all of the ammonia fumes. How do you address that and make sure the air in the coop is healthy?
I clean mine weekly, so, you wait that long to clean?

Hi there! How is your poop shoot experiment going for you? Hubby and I found it very interesting. Thanks for the feedback.
Hi, welcome to Backyard Chickens!

Unfortunately, endlesshobbies last posted in Sept 2022, so you probably won't hear back. But if you try this, please update!
