Hello! I am in the process of planning a coop to build before winter gets here. I just want to make sure I do it right.
For some context, the coop will be built in an old corn crib. Very secure, and aproximately 200 square feet. I currently have 19 chickens, but I'd like to future-proof the coop for 25-30. The chickens will spend the day free ranging, and during the winter they have the option to go outside, but can stay in the coop if they want.
I would also like to make the coop a walk-in, the corn crib is on a cement base so the coop would have a cement floor. What is the optimal size for a group of 25-30 chickens that spend most of their time free ranging?
Also, would around 5-6 nesting boxes be ideal?
Thanks in advance for advice!
