Chicken Crops in the garden

I'm intrigued, i like this idea. Are there any plants that you can grow specificaly grow for chicken food and save money, or even break even. I was thinking maybe winter rye or something like that.

I planted Tyfoon for my chickens. It's a cross between turnip and rape, I believe. It is deep rooted and can stand temperatures down to 10 degrees. (I'm also an Arizonan) My birds love it. It is also good for human consumtption.
