Personally I would rather my chickens lived outside, but I can understand your concern about predators. If you are wanting to keep indoor chickens there are a few things you'll need to plan for. These questions can help as a baseline.
-Are you in your own home?(Most rental houses and apartments won't allow inside chickens)
-Are you living with your parents? Will they mind you having indoor chickens?
-Do you have a room/area in your house that you can make into a chicken room?(Add perches, food, dust baths)
-Can you regularly take your chickens outside(Everyday for around an hour? This is essential as they need vitamin D.
-Can you let them sleep without a diaper?
-Are you ready for the commitment of cleaning a diaper?
Pros and Cons of diapering fowl
Pros
-Can keep indoor fowl without poop everywhere
-Most are easy to clean
Cons
-Fowl need to be taken outside regularly
-Diaper needs to be taken off during sleep and for around an hour during the day
Homemade diapers can be good, but I have had good experience from a website called Sew Sammi
http://www.sewsammi.com/ The owner of the site is very helpful, so if you are in the US it can be an excellent option.
If you would prefer making your own diaper then do alot of research on the subject, get the right materials and you'll be ready!
Good luck!
