Chicken Died Suddenly

I found my chicken Ginger dead this morning. She was curled up on her side half underneath the hanging waterer. Her mouth was dripping with a brown liquid and a string of brownish mucous. She was perfectly fine yesterday. I don’t have any idea what happened. I could’ve sworn that yesterday she was fine. Does anybody know what might’ve happened?

How old was she? The only way to know for sure is by necropsy. There are lots of things it could have been, and they are very good at hiding illness, so hard to say if it was really a sudden death (which happens), or she was just hiding something that was wrong for a while. If you still have the body, you can refrigerate it (don't freeze it) and contact your state lab for necropsy information. It can bring peace of mind, and in some cases provide useful information.

She was 2 years old. She was so healthy, I have no idea what it could have been.
